Service Dog Training from Kindred Spirits Canine Education CenterA federal 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organizationKSCEC is a non-profit organization (501(c)3) begun by Kindred Spirits Dog Training to train privately owned dogs to work as personal service dogs. In addition, we are working hard to educate the public about service dogs, including their rights of access. The trainers at Kindred Spirits have the utmost respect for the larger organizations, such as Canine Companions for Independence, who train service dogs. However, we were seeing – and heard from our clients – a need for more personalized training. Our goal is to train service dogs for individual people, with each dog being trained with the unique skills needed for each individual owner. Many of the people who need our help often don’t have the means to pay for it. Johannah is a double amputee married to Jared, a Marine. Jared is being shipped to Iraq shortly. If their Golden Retriever, Lucas, can be trained and certified to assist Johannah, he will be able to leave with a lighter heart. Kindred Spirits is going to help them no matter what, but any donations towards their training costs will be gladly accepted. Kindred Spirits newest service dog team is Jon Smith and his awesome dog, Bentley. Bentley assists Jon in many ways, including mobility support. Congratulations to both Jon and Bentley.
Donations Gladly Accepted and Always NeededDonations are also needed for veterinary care for dogs being trained. Kindred Spirits has adopted shelter dogs for this training and many of these dogs need veterinary care prior to beginning their training and work. Kindred Spirits also has dreams for the future. Although we have a wonderful facility on property leased from John Windish, Windish Team Realty, who is a wonderful landlord, we would love to have our own place where we could board and train dogs, where we could do doggy day care and training, and where we could expand our service dog training. So along those lines, we have established a ‘dream’ fund and all monies donated to that will be allowed to accumulate until the time comes where we can realize that dream.
