Beyond Basic Obedience Classes

Continuing Skills Drop-In Class: This class continues the skills taught in the basic obedience class plus adds a few new commands. Sorry, this class is open ONLY to Kindred Spirits class graduates and Love on a Leash therapy dogs. This is a drop in class; no reservations needed.

Thurs 6:30 pm $5 per session, pay as you attend. No class on major Thursday holidays or in the rain.
Beginning in April, the start time will be 7:00 pm

AKC Canine Good Citizen Class: This class is the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen program and is open for all dogs, purebred and mixed breeds. To attend this class, the dog MUST have satisfactorily completed a basic obedience class. One hour per week for five weeks, $50.

Intermediate Classes: Continue the basic skills you’ve already learned plus learn new skills, including off leash control. Dogs must have completed a KS basic obedience course.

NEW LESSON PLAN! Intermediate Level One Class: This class expands upon the skills taught in basic class, especially the ‘Watch Me’ and attention skills, and the ‘Heel.’ Dogs will learn to pay attention and heel with distractions – including sights, sounds and smells – and different walking patterns. Owners will learn how to transition dogs to off leash heeling. Dogs must have completed a KS basic obedience course. 1 hour per week for 4 weeks; $50.

NEW LESSON PLAN! Intermediate Level Two Class: This class emphasizes distance work with the dog, including the ‘Send out’, ‘Stay’, Come’ and ‘Drop in motion’ commands. Most work is off leash or on a long line. Dogs must have completed an Intermediate Level One class or a previous KS intermediate class. 1 hour per week for 4 weeks; $50.

NEW! Advanced Level One Class: This class is for Intermediate Level 2 graduates or graduates from previous KS intermediate classes. It emphasizes advanced attention, hand signals, and the majority of the class is taught off leash. This class also introduces the retrieve. 1 hour per week for 4 weeks’ $50.

Wed 7:30 pm    Apr 21 thru May 12

NEW! Advanced Level Two Class: This class is focused on retrieving skills, both for fun, exercise, and to keep the dog’s mind busy. The dog should have completed Advanced Level One, have a reasonably good retrieve, and be able to retrieve balls or toys. Taught are retrieving different items, retrieving by name, directed retrieve and scent discrimination. Supplies are needed for this class so email Liz at lizpalika@gmail.com for a supplies list. 1 hour per week for 4 weeks; $50.

Therapy Dog Classes: This class helps prepare dogs and their owners for therapy dog certification. Dogs are introduced to visit skills and owners are taught how to handle their dogs during visits. Dogs MUST have completed a basic obedience class prior to beginning this class. No aggression to dogs or people is allowed. One hour per week for five weeks, $60.
